Disney Cruise Line wins top award for best cruise line

Florida's Disney Cruise Line was rated #1 large ship cruise line at the Conde Nast Traveler Readers Choice awards this week in New York.

The Travel Channel's Samantha Brown presented the award to Disney Cruise Line President Karl Holz.

“We are delighted to be recognized by such an esteemed travel community,” said Holz.  “This award is a testament to our continued dedication toward creating an unparalleled family cruise vacation. We appreciate the support of our guests who have sailed with us time and again and who helped make it possible for us to receive this highly regarded award.”

Rounding out the top three lines in the Mega-Ship Category were Celebrity Cruises and Cunard Line in the number two and three spots respectively. Princess Cruises and Royal Caribbean International took the number four and five positions on the 2010 list.

Also recently,  the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine named Disney Cruise Line the Top Family-Friendly Large-Ship Cruise Line in the 2010 World’s Best Awards poll.

This is good news for Disney, in the process of more than doubling their passenger capacity with the addition of new Disney Dream coming up in January and the Disney Fantasy in 2012.
